The
Emergency Medical Services (EMS) program offers a wide range of pre-hospital,
emergency care courses to meet OSHA and Minnesota POST Board requirements
for ambulance attendants, law enforcement officers, fire/rescue squad
members, medical and hospital personnel, and others whose jobs may require
rendering emergency care. The EMT and First Responder courses are approved
by the Minnesota EMS Regulatory Board. The Ridgewater College EMS program offers "one-stop" training. Designed to provide both basic and advanced patient care education, the EMS staff provides training for the first person on the accident scene, the ambulance personnel, and the professionals in the operating room. All training meets or exceeds the compliance requirements set by regulatory boards including—but not limited to—OSHA, MINE SAFETY AND HEALTH, the State Board of Nursing, and the National Registry of EMS. Licensed by the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities (MNSCU), the EMS staff has extensive training in adult education principles and all are active members of their community EMS systems. |
