2007 - 08 News

 

 

 

11/08/07-The Warriors traveled to Moorhead for the early bird open and had several place winners. Brandon Schunk was champ at 141 pounds. Seth McGregor was 2nd at heavyweight.

11/14/07-The Warriors traveled to Mason City, Iowa to take on the NIACC Trojans. The warriors lost by a score of 15-35. Scott Thompson scored a pin and Trent Molacek scored a technical fall.

11/17/07- The Warriors traveled to Minneapolis for the Augsburg Open. The warriors had several place winners. Seth McGregor was 2nd at heavyweight in the gold division. Kurt Salmen and Trent Molacek were champs in the bronze division at 165 and 174.

11/21/07-The Warriors host their first home dual against St. John’s JV. The Warriors won 33-15. Jon Tatro scored a Technical fall in 4:40. Scott Thompson and Seth McGregor both posted pins for the Warriors.

11/28/07 The Warriors traveled to Grand Rapids, MN to take on the Itasca Vikings. The warriors won the dual 37-9. Michael Ourada and Trent Molacek scored pins. Brandon Schunk and Greg Skerik each won by technical fall.

12/01/07 The Warriors participated in the Moorhead Open. Jon Tatro placed 4th at 125 pounds. Jared Hotakainen placed 5th,  Zach Juusola, and Michael Ourada placed 6th. Kurt Salmen and Trent Molacek both placed 2nd.

12/05/07 The Warriors hosted a dual with the Minnesota West Bluejays. The warriors won 32-7. Seth McGregor posted the only pin of the night, pinning former state champion Will Lutmer in: 31. Jon Tatro scored a technical fall to help boost the warriors to their third dual meet victory.

12/08/07 The Warriors participated in the SCSU Husky Open. Greg Skerik was the lone place winner placing 5th at 149 pounds.

12/15/08 The Warriors competed in the Terry Haws Duals. Heavyweight Seth McGregor went 4-0 with three pins, 2 of those under 30 seconds.

1/12-13/08 The Warriors competed in the Cliff Keen National Duals in Cedar Falls, Iowa. The warriors went 1-2, placing 7th in the NJCAA division. Greg Skerik was 3-0 and Scott Thompson was 2-1 with one pin. Likewise, Trent Molacek was also 2-1 with one pin.

1/16/08 The Itasca Vikings came to Willmar for a dual, which the warriors won 54-3. Jon Tatro, Brandan Schunk, Greg Skerik, Zach Juusola and Trent Molacek all posted pins, helping the warriors to a 3-0 conference record.

01/18/08 The Warriors traveled to Ft. Dodge, Iowa to take on the Iowa Central Tritons. The warriors lost the dual 16-38 but received a major decision by Scott Thompson and a fall from Trent Molacek.

1/23/08 The Rochester Yellowjackets came to Willmar for a conference match-up. The warriors came away with the victory 36-12, helping to post a 4-0 conference record. Pins for the night came from Greg Skerik and Trent Molacek. Brandan Schunk and Zach Juusola helped by adding major decisions.

1/26/08 The Warriors traveled to Iowa Falls, Iowa to take on Labette and Ellsworth. The Warriors fell to Labette 12-39, but received a fall from Jon Tatro, a major decision for Greg Skerik, and a decision from Trent Molacek. The Warriors also fell to Ellsworth 14-21. They received wins from Jon Tatro, Brandan Schunk, Greg Skerik, and Scott Thompson.

2/10/08 The Region Qualifier was held in Willmar with Eight teams competing. The Warriors advanced seven wrestlers to the National Tournament in Rochester on Feb. 23-24. Brandan Schunk was crowned Region Champ at 133. Jon Tatro was second. Greg Skerik, Michael Ourada, and Trent Molacek all placed third. Scott Thompson and Peter Christians placed fourth.

02/22-23/08 The warriors headed to nationals in Rochester. Brandan Schunk  earned  All-American Honors, placing 3rd. Greg Skerik went 2-2 and Trent Molacek went 1-2 As a team, Ridgewater placed 5th among non-scholarship schools.
