Tom Beyer is in his second year as the Ridgewater wrestling coach. In his
first two years at Ridgewater coach Beyer’s teams have won two MCAC State
Titles and Two Dual State Titles. He was named both years MCAC Coach of the
Year .During those two years they have qualified fifteen wrestlers for the
NJCAA National Wrestling Tournament.
As a high school coach, his teams won two hundred forty-eight dual
matches and qualified for the state tournament twice. He has coached numerous state entries, of
which eight became individual state finalists and six of them won state titles. Many of his wrestlers have gone on to be
successful collegiate wrestlers at all levels.
Tom was a three time NCAA Division III All-American, a National
Runner-up and National Champion. In addition he was a NCAA DIV. I National
Qualifier. He has worked at
numerous wrestling camps throughout the years and has served as a region
representative for Minnesota High School Wrestling Coaches’ Association.
Coach Beyer has B.A. from the University of Minnesota, Morris in
Physical Education and in Elementary Education. He received his Master’s in
Science degree from St. Cloud State in Physical Education. His thesis dealt
with predicting optimal body weight for high school wrestlers.
Tom is married and lives on Eagle Lake, north of Willmar. He and his wife, Stacy, have four adult
children.
