Students
enrolled in PHD enrich their training by participating in the Professional
Human Development Club. The club includes all students enrolled in any
of the certificate, diploma, or degree programs available in PHD.
PHD Club members participate in fund-raising efforts which support off-campus
activities such as field trips, workshops and conferences.
These activities enhance classroom experiences and provide
opportunities
for students to explore the human service field and profession. Field
trips include such destinations as MN Arboretum, Lowry Nature Center,
State Services for the Blind, Courage Center, Mall of America, Minnesota
Historical Center, Minnesota State Academies for the Blind and for the
Deaf, Harris Communications, Starland Hutterite Community, and
businesses/companies that offer supplies, resources and ideas to
compliment the students academic preparation.
Students
have the opportunity to attend state and national conferences relating
to their training. Conferences include the Minnesota Statewide Activity
Professional Conference and the Annual Paraprofessional Conference.
Students also spend time volunteering their services in various community
projects.
