Medical Emergency

Medical Emergency

Absence of breathing,
loss of consciousness,
severe bleeding, shock,
loss of body part, death

Emergency between 8:00 AM and 4:30 PM
  1. Call 911
  2. Call Campus Assistance at:
    Willmar Campus – 6099
    Hutchinson Campus – 8555
  3. Provide the attendant with the location and type of emergency
  4. Provide First Aid in accord with your ability and training. The attendant will send someone to assist you until the ambulance arrives
  5. Arrange for someone to stay by the outside door nearest the emergency to alert the
    ambulance driver with the appropriate location
  6. Call a chain-of-command member

Emergency before 8:00 AM, after 4:30 PM and on weekends
  1. Call 911 immediately – provide location of the emergency and information requested from 911 operator
  2. Send a bystander to the nearest outside door to alert the ambulance driver of the appropriate location
  3. Provide First Aid in accord with your ability and training
  4. Call your supervisor and report the situation after medical assistance has arrived

Medical Non-Emergency
Non-Emergency between 8:00 AM and 4:30 PM
  1. Call Campus Assistance at:
    Willmar Campus – 6099
    Hutchinson Campus – 8555
  2. Provide the attendant with the injury/illness information and location. The attendant will send someone to assist you and notify a chain of command member.
  3. Provide First Aid in accord with your ability and training
  4. Assist the injured/ill in calling a parent, spouse or friend for a ride to a medical provider and/or home
  5. Suggest the injured independently seek medical treatment


Non-Emergency before 8:00 AM, after 4:30 PM and on weekends

  1. Provide First Aid in accord with your ability and training
  2. Assist the injured/ill in calling a parent, spouse or friend for a ride to a medical provider and/or home
  3. Suggest the injured/ill independently seek medical treatment
  4. Call your supervisor and report the situation
